Dublin (Iers: Baile Átha Cliath) is de hoofdstad van Ierland in de provincie Leinster. De stad ligt vrijwel halverwege aan de oostkust van het eiland, aan Dublin Bay, een inham van de Ierse Zee, en wordt van oost naar west doorsneden door de rivier de Liffey. In 2011 telde de stad 527.612 inwoners.

Hij had het over een stad die hij Eblana noemde.

Dublin was founded by the Vikings in ± 988 and has since become a metropolis with more than 1 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area. The name comes from 'Dubh Linn', which is Old Irish for black pool or black water, a reference to a settlement that, according to some, corresponds to present-day Dublin, from the Greek astronomer Ptolemy, around the year 140. He had it about a city that he called Eblana.
