De Great Hall is 33,8 meter lang en 16,7 meter breed. De hal werd tussen 1222 en 1235 gebouwd door Willem de Veroveraar en kostte destijds 500 Pond. Het gebouw maakte deze uit van een kastelencomplex. De ronde tafel is ongeveer 800 jaar oud en heeft een diameter van 5,5 meter. De tafel weegt 1200 kilogram en bestaat uit 121 verschillende stukken eiken bestanddelen.
Henry VIII (1509-1547) gaf opdracht om de tafel in de huidige uitvoering te schilderen: koning Arthur aan het hoofd en de 24 ridders rond de tafel.
