De Scafell Pike is de hoogste bergtop van Engeland en meet een hoogte van 978 meter. De beg maakt deel uit van de Scafells in het Lake District, één van de nationale parken in Engeland. De berg is van de drie Britse bergen die deel uitmaken van de ‘National Peaks Challenge’.
De uitzichten zijn hier adembenemend. Omdat het heel veel regent in het Lake District is het er altijd groen. Nu, met de naderende herfst, kleuren de flanken roesbruin door de vele varens. Overal zie je kleine watervallen.
Je kunt de berg van meerdere kanten beklimmen. Wij hebben gekozen voor de oostflank, en die as behoorlijk pittig. Uiteindelijk hebben we de top niet bereikt, maar we zijn wel ver gekomen.

The Scafell Pike is the highest peak in England and measures an altitude of 978 meters. The beg is part of the Scafells in the Lake District, one of the national parks in England. The mountain is from the three British mountains that are part of the National Peaks Challenge.
The views are breathtaking here. Because it rains a lot in the Lake District, it is always green. Now, with the approaching autumn, the flanks turn pinkish brown through the many ferns. Everywhere you see small waterfalls.
You can climb the mountain from multiple sides. We have opted for the east flank, and that axis is pretty spicy. In the end we did not reach the top, but we have come a long way.
