Stan Laurel werd in Ulverston geboren en reisde op jonge leeftijd naar Amerika waar hij uiteindelijk Oliver Hardy ontmoette. In the 40's and 50's they toured Europe and everywhere they were welcomed as heroes.
These comedians are still world famous today; their films remain timeless and also fascinate the current generation. In 1958 Oliver Hardy died and in 1965 Stan Laurel died. As fans of this duo we visited the only real museum dedicated to the 'Boys'. Here is an enormous amount of knick-knacks, countless photos and you can watch films.
I Ulverston is also a real Stan Laurel Inn and you can also visit the birth house of Stan. Unfortunately it is not accessible. In front of the town hall is a statue of the duo, donated by the 'Sons of the Desert', the worldwide fanclub.
