Deze klassieke pub kreeg op 16 juni 1551 toestemming van koning Edward VI om drank te schenken. In 1591 werd de naam veranderd in ‘The white horse’. Het is één van de twee pubs in Oxford die sindsdien qua uiterlijk en inrichting niet zijn veranderd.
De pub is ook beroemd als decor voor de detectiveseries Morse, Lewis en Endeavour. Ook werden hier de ‘Oxford Murders’ opgenomen en de documentaire ‘Discovery of witches’.
On June 16, 1551, this classic pub received permission from King Edward VI to serve liquor. In 1591 the name was changed to "The white horse". It is one of two pubs in Oxford that has not changed in appearance and design since.
The pub is also famous as a backdrop for the detective series Morse, Lewis and Endeavor. The "Oxford Murders" and the documentary "Discovery of witches" were also recorded here.
